SHARED ACCESS
NEWS

Welcome

This is our first internal newsletter. We have lots of news to share internally and this is a great way to get updates to you on a regular basis.

As we grow and expand, it’s imperative we stay connected and continue to communicate. This newsletter is just one way we will do that.

If you have any feedback or ideas for inclusion, please email internal.news@sharedaccess.com. Any and all feedback welcome.

Bringing our Principles to life

Each edition we’ll be sharing an internal story which brings our Principles to life. As we grow, it’s imperative we remind ourselves of the culture that has made Shared Access the company it is today.

Organisation updates

A key part of our company culture is to embrace change because change is inevitable and good for us all.

Team integrations

At the end of March we decided to integrate our Estates team within the Acquisition and Build teams. This process is complete and has started to bring the increased communication and efficiencies we believed it would.

As we emerge from COVID and look to kick on with more success and growth, effective communication, both within and also between departments, as always will be critical – if you see an opportunity for improvement, don’t hesitate to discuss it with others in your team or anyone that you think may benefit.

M&T acquisition

As announced, Shared Access acquired M&T.

Part of the rationale of making M&T part of Shared Access was an understanding that the growth potential opening up due to the launch of Shared Access Enterprise, as well as the new wave of both exciting and new DAS sites to design, build and upgrade, means we will be very busy over the next few years. In fact, we are already looking at how we can expand this team to meet the current requirements and ensure we are ready for the next phase of growth.

When we are all back in our offices make sure you say hello and introduce yourself to anyone new when you see them!

Marketing and Business Development

We are making important strides with Marketing and Business Development, working closely with our agency partners the YOU Agency. We are ambitious for growth as a company and Marketing and Business Development will be central to our getting the word out. We have already created a new video and brochure to promote our Enterprise business which you can see here, and have many more updates to bring you in the coming months.

Wellbeing

As you all know, we are very focused on ensuring we all keep as fit and well as possible.

We hope everyone who took up the Peloton App has both enjoyed and benefited from the experience and will continue to see the benefits. We are delighted that more and more people are both able to, and are enjoying, coming into the offices on a more regular basis – we can’t wait for us all to be back. In the meantime, if anyone has questions about how and when they can get out of the house and come to the office please contact your manager.

Charitable activity

The Tower industry has been very resilient over the last two years, and as such we have all been very fortunate to be in a strong position both as a company and individuals. Other areas haven’t been so lucky and have faced some very difficult situations – as such Shared Access have made a number of donations and offered support in more ways than we normally would. While we don’t do this to shout about it, every now and then we will let you know in order to ensure you know that we are staying true to our values and principles. A few examples are:

1 – Donation of laptops to local schools. Over 20 laptops have been donated to local schools in Lymington and New Milton to ensure that students who weren’t able to afford them, and therefore would have fallen behind during home-schooling, didn’t.

2 – Shared Access donated and fundraised specifically for Wave 105’s Cash for Kids initiative in 2020.

3 – Donations have also been made to Rays of Sunshine in the UK, Make a Wish Ireland, Children’s rights and Irish Society for the prevention of cruelty to Children in Ireland and Make a Wish Spain.

Thanks to everyone who helped!

Project updates

Berthon Marina

We are installing the first WIFI 6 network in a marina in the UK. This project is one of our first Shared Access Enterprise models and will be used as a key case study for us in the future. Being on the doorstep has been invaluable regarding how quickly and successfully we have faced all the challenges associated with an entirely new type of project – and working for your landlord is always fun!

John Stevens and Russ Heagney have led the installation of the project, and while not 100% complete, we now have BT connected into the site, WIFI access points up and running and a date in the diary for all further works to be completed.

In order to speed up the process we have launched with temporary poles (M&T are fabricating 18 brand new ones) – we are well on the way to our first ‘Connected Boatyard!’

Heathrow NATS Tower

As everyone probably knows, at Faggs Road, Heathrow, we are completing a major project to replace two existing masts with one much larger tower.

As you will see from the pictures, the largest tower Shared Access have ever built is now in place – we have ‘Steel in the Air’!

We are in the process of completing snagging visits, getting power to the site and starting to transition the MNOs and other tenants across to the new structure.

A great job by all, especially Davinia Bennion and John Stevens. This is the first of what will be a large number of similar projects following the NATS portfolio acquisition.

Our tallest tower in the history of Shared Access – 45m!

VenueNext Europe

Throughout 2020 and into 2021 Shared Access have continued to sell our QR code ordering product named OrderNext – we are now live in 20 venues, including our first two in Austria!

One Stop Golf

The system is self explanatory with great functionality. I really like the option to turn off items if you run out of them – it also means that we can switch off food orders completely if we want to, but keep the wet sales open. It’s a system that works hard for us and delivers a great experience for our customers.

Boyce Hill Golf Club

“OrderNext has quickly become invaluable to the catering operation at Boyce Hill Golf Club. Lots of our members have saved the QR code to their phones and order now before they’ve finished their round. They love it! We’ve seen an increase in sales too, because it’s so easy and appealing to re order from your seat.”
